We know the opportunity gap negatively impacts students of color and students living in poverty, but what can we do about it? In this session, we will explore the role of literacy in relation to equity and opportunity for our students. Using texts and vocabulary from our own content areas, we will develop and practice instructional strategies to help students build content-specific literacy skills that will level the playing field and increase student achievement across the disciplines.
